The term “erectile dysfunction” has replaced time-worn term “impotence”.  The word “impotence” is not used any more as it does not give a precise explanation of this problem. More than that, the use of this term has led to incorrect understanding of this state. Men who suffer from erectile dysfunction are not sterile and have a capability for ejaculation and orgasm as all other men. They have all normal male sexual characters as well.

Erectile dysfunction may be determined as “incapacity” to reach and (or) keep up erection sufficient for successful sexual activity”.

The majority of men have some periods in their lives when they have problems with reaching and keeping up erection, perhaps it happens as a result of excessive tension, use of a large amount of alcohol or just overfatigue. However if this problem does not disappear it may be connected with erectile dysfunction.
